About FLo
Florence Bradley, better known as FloDidThat, is an NYC crochet fiber artist based in Harlem, New York. Originally born and raised in Switzerland with North African, Middle Eastern, and French heritage, Flo learned to crochet at age 10, but for many years her crochet hook was at rest. A few years after the birth of her two children she picked up her hook again, then barely put it down.
Proud resident of El Barrio (East Harlem, New York) Flo is known for her community ties which are reflected in her art by its vibrant colors, and themes inspired by the Harlem multicultural atmosphere with a rich heritage from South America, in particular Mexico and Puerto Rico as well as the Caribbean Islands and the African American community.
She is also the co-founder and leader of a local crochet group called El Barrio Crochet Collective. The collective and her individual work can be admired on school fences, community centers, and churches around the community, simultaneously she has participated in exhibitions in local art galleries (ArtSpace, The East Harlem Gallery, and Johnson Community Center).
As part of her focus on community engagement, FloDidThat is also an educator. Teaching workshops and classes to a wide range of participants from youth, adults, and seniors; with the goal of bridging the intergenerational gap, by exchanging knowledge and skills with each other.
FloDidThat’s art is a celebration of diversity and creativity, bringing together different cultures, age groups, and traditions in a powerful and thought-provoking way. Through her work, she invites us to explore the richness and complexity of the world around us and embrace our unique identities and experiences.
